What Happens To A Dream Deferred?

Does it dry up

like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore—

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over—

like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

To my comrades, male and female
                        And everyone else in between
Who fell, And picked themselves up,
                                 Licked their wounds,
                                    Cultivated their laughter,'
                                          Preserved their gaiety,
                                               And carried on regardless.

Another issue of indubitable importance is that certain members of the oppressor class

join the oppressed in their struggle for liberation, thus moving form one pole of contradiction to the other.

Theirs is a fundamental role, and has been throughout history of this struggle.

It happens however that as they cease to be exploiters or indifferent spectators or simply the heirs of exploitation

and move to the side of the exploited, they always bring with them the marks of their origin :

their prejudices and their deformations,

which include a lack of confidence in

the peoples' ability to think, to want and to know.

The Sign Tour

WILL PEOPLE HAVE THE STRENGTH
      THE DETERMINATION THE COURAGE
     THE STAMINA TO CARRY OUT
      WHAT SPIRIT DEMANDS OF THEM
AND WHAT THIS AGE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE
                    IMPOSSIBLE

                                          Yo! Yo!
The "new barbarians" will shake the very foundations of the empire
With a creativity of a new society in the makings.
We are the new historical subjects
Now emerging side by side with those
Who in the bowels of the existing society
Mobilize and struggle for a different social order
